I recently upgraded my Kindle DX (the “International” one) to the new Kindle DX Latest Edition. The main driver for switching was the new, brighter screen (50% brighter, according to the Amazon web site).
The decision, however, was taken on a leap of faith, since I could find little information on the web comparing the two screens and I found difficult to figure out what “50% brighter” meant in practice.
Having used the new device, I experienced a significant improvement on the readability of text (not to talk about faster response, and the other improvements mentioned on the Amazon product description). The following gallery might help you get a better feeling of the improved contrast.
